New York Landmarks Conservancy Features St. Philip`s
The restoration St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in the Stuyvesant Heights Historic District was featured in the New York Landmarks Conservancy Annual Report. HPA was requested to provide an order-of -magnitude study that investigated several problems the church was looking to repair. First, and most pressing, was the deteriorating plaster around the rosetta window.
The full restoration included roof and window repairs, new gutters and leaders. Deteriorated interior plaster was repaired and painted. Additionally, the masonry façade was cleaned and re-pointed, a new stone step was installed, and the tower windows were restored. HPA also assisted St. Philip’s in getting a low-interest loan that enabled the church to complete the construction.
