Andrus Children`s Center Benedict Hall Re-Opens

The re-opening of Benedict Hall at the Andrus Children’s Center in Yonkers was met with smiles and cheers of delight by the 16 young men who call it home. The Hall Partnership, in collaboration with Kimberly Hall Kids, LTD, created a new image for the historic residential facility

As part of the project, The Hall Partnership designed the conversion of garages adjacent to Benedict Hall into the Andrus Center for Learning and Innovation (ACLI), a state-of-the-art teaching facility. The garage conversion provided a creative solution to the ACLI’s space needs.

The design challenge facing The Hall Partnership was to convert a 1930’s vehicular garage into an exciting and colorful space for the training of 60 to 80 teachers. The four-bay garage that had housed agency vehicles was dramatically re-designed into a handsome conference center. Beautiful French doors replaced the old garage doors that look out over the wooded portion of the Andrus campus. State-of the art technology, artwork and an office suite for the ACLI staff completed the transformation. The Hall Partnership’s design also features a floating metal ceiling and new colorful granite flooring

At Benedict Hall, a similar attitude was incorporated into the design , including new playful low-maintenance design, low maintenance floor finishes, new stainless steel fixtures, new doors, new bedrooms, lighting and blinds. All interior finishes where selected with the utmost consideration for child safety.

“We knew ten years ago that the cottages would need a dramatic overhaul some day,” remarked Brian Farragher COO of Andrus Children’s Center. The Hall Partnership is proud of its role in making the transformation a reality.
